Zippered Rib Collar

Zippered Rib Collar is a top-down zippered neck warmer. Its collar alone construction allows it to match any outfits and it is suitable for many seasons. First, the collar is worked back and forth then doubled, and the front part is shaped with German short rows. The piece is joined in the round and the base is formed. Finally, a zipper is attached by hand stitching. The height of the collar can be changed at will (in this case, the length of the zipper used will change, see the description of the collar section).
“Spring” version is worked in a chain-like yarn made of 50% linen and 50% merino and its compact size makes it ideal for changing seasons. “Light” version, knit with tweed and silk mohair yarns, is light yet warm with a long neckline that can be zipped up for a fashion statement. “Bulky” version is ideal for winter for its high thermal quality.

  Measurements: Circumference 41 cm (16¼”) / Length 19 cm (7½”)
  Needles: Circular needles: 4 mm (US 6) 60 cm (24”) circular
  Gauge: 23 sts × 28.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4” × 4”) in 1×1 Rib stitch on 4 mm US 6 needle (after blocking)
  Yarn: STRÅ by WOOLFOLK / #7s (150 m (164 yards) / 50 g) = 50-60 g
  Zipper: 16cm (6¼”) long

  Light Version (moss green)
  Measurements: Circumference 48 cm (19”) / Length 23 cm (9”)
  Needles: 4 mm (US 6)60 cm (24”) circular
  Gauge: 21 sts × 23.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4” × 4”) in 1×1 Rib stitch on 4 mm (US 6) needle (after blocking and wear)* Note on Light version: the sample’s gauge just after blocking is 24 sts = 10 cm (4”). Measure your gauge, lightly stretching the fabric. (If you use mohair yarn in any versions, please do this.)
  Yarn: Isager Tweed / #2713 Moss (200 m (219 yards) / 50 grams) = 40 (45) g held together with Isager Silk Mohair / #68 (212 m (232 yards) 25 g) = 25 g
  Zipper: 20cm (7¾”) long

  Bulky Version (light gray)
  Measurements:Circumference 52 cm (20½” )/ Length 23 cm 9”
  Needles: Circular needles: 5 mm (US 8) 60 cm (24”) circular)
  Gauge: 18.5 sts × 21.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4” × 4”) in 1×1 Rib stitch on 5 mm (US 8) needle (after blocking)
  Yarn: dlana Rústica / #GR2 (193 m (211 yards) / 100 g) = 80 g grams
  Zipper: 18cm / 7” long

  Notions Stitch markers, stitch holders or scrap yarn, tapestry needle, sewing needle, marking pins and knitting pins.
